This page explains how to delete your CredSetu account and request deletion of your personal data, as required under the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
In-App Deletion — Planned
We are building an in-app account deletion option: a Delete Account button inside Settings, so you will be able to delete your account directly from the app without needing to email us. This is not yet available. Until it ships, use the request process below, which works today for every CredSetu user.
How to Request Deletion Today
- Email privacy@credsetu.in from the phone number or contact detail linked to your account, stating that you want your CredSetu account and data deleted.
- We may ask you to verify your identity — for example, by confirming the phone number linked to your account — before processing the request, to make sure we are not deleting the wrong person’s data.
- Your request is acknowledged within 48 hours and completed within one month, as required under the IT Act SPDI Rules 2011.
What Gets Deleted
- Your name, phone number, and other personal identifiers
- Your Trust Score and the identity it is tied to
- Your account and login credentials
What We Retain, and Why
Some data cannot be deleted immediately, for legal and legitimate business reasons:
- Transaction / ledger history is anonymised — personal identifiers are removed, but the underlying record is kept in aggregate, non-identifying form for up to 7 years from the date of the last transaction, in line with standard financial record-keeping practice.
- Consent records (evidence of what you agreed to and when) are retained for 7 years as proof of lawful collection.
- Data we are required to keep to comply with a legal obligation, resolve an active dispute, or enforce our agreements is retained only as long as that specific reason applies.

Merchant Accounts
If you are a merchant, deleting your account does not delete the business records you are legally required to keep. Your own ledger data remains available to you for 90 days after account closure, per our Terms of Service, Section 7.
